In the context of Vietnam’s progressing strategic decisions on national transport infrastructure development, high-speed rail is now recognized as an essential solution for connecting major economic regions, reducing overload in highway and airline networks, and promoting sustainable growth. With multiple large-scale projects currently being studied and planned for operation, the demand to update knowledge, acquire expertise, and adopt innovative technologies in this field has become more urgent than ever.

To establish a reputable academic forum for sharing international experiences, connecting expertise, and fostering cooperation among academia, industry, and government agencies, the Urban & High-Speed Rail Innovation Hub (UHRI Hub) of Chodai & Kiso-Jiban Vietnam Co., Ltd. (CKJVN), in collaboration with Thuy Loi University, will host the 2nd Scientific Seminar on the theme: “High-Speed Rail: Challenges and Opportunities”
📅 Time: 8:30 – 11:30, Wednesday, 20 August 2025
📍 Venue: Hall 225, Building A2, Thuy Loi University (175 Tay Son Street, Kim Lien Ward, Hanoi City)

The seminar is a follow-up to the meeting between the leadership of both parties in December 2024, where an agreement was reached to cooperate in training, research, and technology transfer for high-speed rail and urban rail systems. This field requires the harmonization of planning, design, construction, and operation—while also opening opportunities for international collaboration and access to advanced technology.

In the last meeting, both parties agreed on essential steps toward finalizing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), establishing the basis for a strategic, long-term, and productive collaboration.

Event Highlights:

  1. MOU Signing Ceremony between Thuy Loi University and CKJVN – marking a new milestone in academia–industry cooperation.
  2. Scholarship Award Ceremony by CKJVN to the Scholarship Fund & Student Activities of the Faculty of Civil Engineering – demonstrating the commitment to supporting the next generation of engineers.

Seminar Topics:

The seminar will bring together international and Vietnamese experts, focusing on key topics:

  • High-Speed Rail Infrastructure – Infrastructure Planning
Mr. Keiichi Aoki (Chodai Co., Ltd., Japan)
  • Discussions on the Design and Construction of HSR Bridges in Vietnam
