The construction project of Bach Dang bridge, approach roads and intersections in order to complete the connecting road between Ha Long city and Hanoi – Hai Phong highways. Connecting the economic triangle Hanoi – Hai Phong – Quang Ninh, reducing the traffic load for Highway 18 and Highway 10, shortening travel time from Hanoi to Hai Phong and Quang Ninh, attracting investment and contributing to the socio-economic development of Quang Ninh province, as well as key economic zone in the North.

The main bridge – Bach Dang cable stayed bridge with 4 continuous cable stayed spans, 3 pylons. Bridge structure which has more than 4 continuous cable-stayed spans is rather special in the world. Addition, due to the requirements of navigation and fight safety, the bridge pylon of Bach Dang bridge will have special structure being different from normal.
